Saturday saw the first race in the Scottish Hill Running Championships. 17 Carnethies made their way down to Dumfries and Galloway to race up Screel. Elliot Sedman was 1st M40, Stewart Whitlie was first M50, Michelle Hetherington was 2nd F50, Andrew Fallas was 3rd MS and Dessie Flanagan was 3rd M40. The Carnethy men were 2nd team, the M40 team were 1st in their category and the Carnethy ladies team were 3rd. We were short of a couple of F40s for a team, presumably as they were saving themselves for the next race round the Arrochar Alps.

Screel was the 2nd race in the Carnethy Club Championships. Alan Hogg, Andrew Fallas, Michelle Hetherington and Stewart Whitlie currently lead the table from another 102 runners. 11 Carnethies are already a third of their way to earning their free beer for completing 6 races. It is still early days though with another 16 rounds to go. Next up in the Carnethy Club Championship is the Mourne Highline (Northern Ireland), followed by Ras Y Meolwyn (Wales) and then the more local Traprain Hill race.
