It’s difficult to put my feelings into words.
This was everything I wanted it to be and so much more. Tailwind, jam wraps and fruit gums powered me through to my breakdown at mile 65. This put me behind schedule and into the night without night gear. I made it to the 70 mile aid station and with the help of two of the most incredible people I know I put one foot in front of the other to finish the exhilirating 103 mile run (3 bonus miles of nav errors) in 28 hours 57 minutes and 30 seconds.
The 100 was a combination of two 50 milers, a flat 50 (1200ft) followed by a hilly 50 (9000ft). There were 14 starters for the 100 with 9 finishers.
Shoutout to Minehead Running Club for allowing me to source support on their page and to Albion Running, check out some of their events if you’re in that part of the country. You won’t regret it.
I won’t bore anyone with the details but if you have any questions about kit, my take aways from the race, nutrition, existential crises, how to make the best jam wrap, putting fizzy laces in tea instead of sugar – I’ll happily share my experience. Because it truly was the greatest experience of my short life.
Great running from everyone else at the weekend and good luck in whatever’s coming up. I’ll be supporting/helping out for the foreseeable so don’t be shy. Take care! Website: https://www.albionrunning.org/westcountry-ultra-100
