The Water of Leith Half Marathon is marginally easier to enter than the 7 Reservoirs version, assuming you are on the email list. It is run like a handicap so your time estimate has a major impact on your finishing position. Your challenge is to overtake the shirt in front, and don’t be overtaken.
I finished 3.5 minutes ahead of estimate and suffered only a few over-takers including a Harmony rocket and Alex McVey who was flying at 3:36/km pace. Today he was without 7 pints in him. Philippa Iverson was at the finish already with about 10 others when I arrived. The photo is the Carnethy finishers in the first 5 mins. Others followed.
Great wee race. Thanks to the organisers, route markers, marshalls and finishing food and drinks people.
