Cut through the woods to avoid the police; couple of visits to the car wash, call out for the fire brigade.
Fi, Jo, Peter, Patricia and Michael ran for a slower 7 at 7 run to the Craiglockharts. Heading down the steps off Blackford towards the Hermitage our group of 5 turned into around 15 as the faster runners ran along behind us. A small navigational error took us out of their way. A diversion over the wall to the car wash helped us get round the blocked off tennis courts.
Going down the bank and over the wall, we took the usual path parallel to Greenbank Drive bypassing the blue flashing lights of an incident further along the road. With the gate closed at the end recently, we climbed out just beyond the police. Going up Wester Craiglockhart from the Napier campus we went through a large patch of recently burnt gorse bushes. The smell of smoke helped cover up a smell acquired from the Greenback Drive path. Higher up we stopped for a safety check as there were still embers to one side catching light and flames ahead of us. Reaching the trig point safely, we stopped to report the fire. With a team effort on navigation we made our way home via the car wash.
