Some of the faster carnethys of the 15 on the finishers list on the bennevisrace.co.uk site.
Beautiful day up at the Fort, it was my 18th run, and also my 18th quickest, proof that you can’t defy age, or was it that cold I’d picked up atop Caerketton a few days before?
Some great runs though – especially the 10th time winner Finlay, he didn’t break the record but was so far in front he might as well have.
Top Carnethys on the results were Andrew and Iain Gilmour, Iain only just failing to dip under 2 hours on a day of surprisingly slow times but his brother had a storming run to finish 11th in under 1:50 (even though he’s running for Highland HR now Carnethy can still claim his official result) . I had a nice day out, enjoying the views where possible, crawling over the summit plateau at a rate barely faster than the several thousand 3 peaks challengers and only got into a decent descent rhythym on the screes and there’s not enough of those anymore. I did eventually reel in the newly red-shirted John Malcolm back at the park to scare him into a sprint (which he won) but apart from that nothing to trouble the strava leader boards.
