The Fast
Three in the fastish group tonight and we decided to head to the Pentlands.. With the evenings getting darker we headed across the golf course to Blackford Hill and down through the Hermitage and out to Straiton to take the Alt 5C route up Allermuir (Jim decided on a direct ascent to Caerketton, something about tired legs from 2 Breweries). From Allermuir we viewed the waxing gibbous moon and along the ridge to Caerketton, down to the Steading where we met Jim looking like he needed refreshment. So a quick half of Deuchars and a blast back to KB via Mortonhall for some excellent Stewarts Cascade.
11.3 miles, 1hr 47 min (inc beer stop), 3,151ft ascent/decsent

The Social We saw the moon shining over the Pentlands so headed for it. Following instructions from Willie to be gentle with newcomers Annie and Josh we ran just over the usual 7 miles to the top of Caerketton and back.Michael Wilkinson |

The Slow
With a sore knee I had a good excuse to lead a shorter social run tis week. I saw the others off to Caerketton and hung about till 7:30 by which time Gina, Nicola and Irene had turned up. We did a circuitous route to the summit of Blackford and then over to the south of the Hermitage and back the northside. After a quick run round Blackford Pond we ran back up to the observatory and home. Just over 4.5 miles. Then it was beer time Willie Gibson |
