The start of the Meteorological spring didn’t bring any improvement in the weather, but undeterred, five Carnethies, all Vet 50s, who identified as male on Sunday, made the trip up to Scotlandwell for the Bishop Hill Race. A cracking short sharp climb to the summit of White Craigs and back down. A good turnout of 80 runners, and David Elder from Lomond Hill Runners was first back in 19.30, the only time under 20 minutes. Maya Stone from Fife AC was first female in 24.31.
Conditions were wet and muddy underfoot, the going heavy at times, and a brisk wind over the tops made for an interesting descent.
Excellent soup and scones afterwards in the Portmoak Village Hall made for a grand day out, and we had a moral claim on the V50 team prize too.
Thanks to Richard Gatehouse and all the marshals for organising.
