it will be interesting to see the various route choices on Jim’s eccentric race, so send me your GPSs! We won’t know Steven’s route as he didn’t manage to press ‘start’ until half way round. Fortunately I took a photo at the off, and we worked out the elapsed time, and saved a re-run! 3drerun shows my route was a mere 50m shorter than Liam’s and possibly less runnable.

See ‘live’ reruns here 3drerun. The interface is a bit flakey (and you have to redo this link each time a runner is added), and may take some time to load. You may need to press stop before zooming in or out. There is a near invisible collapsed window on the right where you can set more options. Click on a fine vertical line that says ‘show more’. Infinite traces will keep the full trace visible. If you click the little camera (top left side panel) the view will follow that runner.
Most of the nine runners for race four in the Alternative Carnethy 5 Race Series were complaining of various sore bits from the previous nights Caerketton Downhiller, which may explain why it took us over half an hour to walk to the summit of Allermuir. Steven and Digby had already started and we passed them charging down to CP1.
A couple of route variations from CP1 to CP2, then several different routes were chosen back to the summit. Thanks to Jim Hardie for designing the course (and then heading off on his hols for some Californication).
Final race tonight is the Captains’ Mystery Challenge. Even if you haven’t managed to do any of the previous races, all welcome for the final race and food and drink afterwards in The Steading. (And you still have till Sunday to do the other races…).
