The final race in the Borders Cross-Country Series (of “real” cross-country races!) was held last Sunday at Galashiels on a muddy, hilly course with a tricky stream crossing. Not as many Carnethies as usual competed in the series this year, but at the end of the 6 race series (it was supposed to be 8 races, but two were cancelled due to the winter storms) we had a few podium places. The standout performance was from Graham Nash who dominated the Over 50 category, being unbeaten in all the races he took part in. Not bad for someone more used to doing reps round the Ramsay Round ! The other winners were: Robin Sloan 2nd in the Over 70s; Alex McVey 3rd in the Senior Men and Hilary Spenceley 3rd in the Over 60s. Full results and series standings here.
