The First British Championship race took place in Wales this Saturday. Seventeen hardy Carnethys travelled down and enjoyed a tough Ras Yr Aran. Reports suggest underfoot conditions were moist and there was also some weather to enjoy. Standout individual results include Eóin Lennon in third overall, Alexander Chepelin 8th, Andrew Fallas in 15th (4th V40) and Elizabeth Leason 22nd female. Strong team performances saw Carnethy Men in 2nd place and the Carnethy V40s winning their category (based on my spreadsheet calculations so not official in any way!).

Ras Yr Aran was the 2nd race in the Carnethy Championships after the Carnethy 5. An amazing 128 Carnethys finished the Carnethy 5. After two races the early running is being made by defending club champ Alan Hogg with Andrew Fallas clinging on to his lightweight jacket. It could be all change at the top of the leader board in two weeks with the next Carnethy AND Scottish Championship, Cioch Mhor, race scheduled to take place near Dingwall on the 28th March.
