The most Munros in 24hrs has been a long standing challenge with the right route at the right time, with the right talent being critical for success. Carnethy has a proud record in these 24hr challenges and this success has just been extended by a young team (apparently all <23) that supported Sasha Chepelin and Ali Masson from Carnethy to extend the 24hr Munro record.
Based on Jim Mann’s route from last year around the Glenshee hills and the Cairngorms, but in reverse order and with a few variations, Sasha and Ali set off at 1030 but unfortunately with about 6hrs to go, Ali Masson had to stop short due to injury, after a tremendous effort. Sasha (Alexander Chepelin) continued for a record haul of 32 munros in 23hrs 10 mins, his longest run yet at around 155km.
