In perfect weather for hill runners (chucking with rain, gusty wind and a wet and muddy course) Carnethy athletes put in some superb runs amongst the record-breaking field at the Scottish national cross country championships. In the women’s 2 lapper (8km) Charlotte Morgan had a great race and placed extremely well in 5th, only just being pipped to 4th by a previous champion and only 3 seconds off the podium. Helen put in a great run to place 44th, just ahead of a Gala attired Kate Jenkins (50th) and Rachel Middlemiss a couple of minutes further back. Sadly 4 were need to get a team place. In the gents (3 laps – 12km) we did complete a team, coming in lucky 13th (out of 34), led home by Andy Fallas,a top 30 spot following up on his form from last weeks proper race. Iain Whiteside (80th) and Andrew Gilmore (88) also making it into the top 100. Mark Johnston followed soon after (top 30 V40 place), with the team scorers completed by Tom Middlemiss and a well paced run by Simon Titmuss (I say well paced as he came powering past me half way round and he was one of the fastest to go past me). The 10 Carnethy male mudlarks were completed with Iain Gilmore, Roddy McRae, Neil Pendrich and myself. Results
