As all the fasties were up at Strathpeffer for the championship race this seemed like a good opportunity to do a race without a super fast winning time and maybe improve my SHR%. This plan however had a fatal flaw in it which was revealed on the start line in the form of a whole group of under 20s who were racing for a place in the Home International team and a certain Colin Donnelly. The race started in a blur on a horrible fast ascent that was annoyingly runnable, at the top of which the young guns were out of sight and I was gasping for breath. There was two ascents of the summit this year to make it a longer race for the U20 trials and then a lovely fast descent to the finish where the race really earns its name as it really is like a rollercoaster, i.e you fell sick and only the youngsters seem to be enjoying it! Only two Carnethy vests on show, myself and Jeremy Milne.
A great route and brilliant value at £2, thanks to Moorfoot runners for putting on a fine race. Results here
