The Broughton Tyke

With this year’s course being held literally up the road and a friend running for the ladies team, I headed up to lend my support and unfurl “the flag”. A changed course to the last time giving a fast and very runable loop of each side of the valley. Theexcellent conditions underfoot made for a hard pace and with the count back system it’s eyeballs out to the line. Lancashire men and Yorkshire ladies both came away with the respective bragging rights this year. Rumour has it that a Cumbrian double agent put paid Scotland’s East men’s chances, who with different circumstances would have come away with the win on the day, but you play the cards you are dealt. A few Carnethys present on the day to savour the atmosphere. Personally it would have been nice to see a few other counties teams there (and what about a Scotland South to provide true representation?). Everyone seemed to enjoy the day, well done to the organisers.
