This is the eighth year of the Feel The Burns hill race in Selkirk, visiting Peat Law, the Three Brethren and Foulshiel Hill, covering a distance of 21.4k and including climb of 800m.
I think it’s fair to say that Carnethy more or less dominated the event today, both in the number of red vests on the start line and for the number of prizes taken home by CHRC members. Age group individual prizes and men and women’s team prizes were swept up. Well done to all winners!
I’d like to confirm, as we may hear about this from Jim in the future…..that he DID overtake Angela towards the end of the race! Like a true champion Angela pulled him back and crossed the line in 1h 48, just a couple of minutes ahead, but give Jim credit for his well earned moment of glory if he ‘accidentally’ drops it into conversation!
Thank you to Sheila Cochrane, who year after year, makes this race grow in popularity, coordinates a wonderful group of marshals and donates all profits to Tweed Mountain Rescue.
