The 2015 Alt C5 has begun, with early rumours of folk already out during the day doing some of the 5 race courses this week. You can do them in any order, at any time to suit you, as long as you complete the series by Sunday 13th September.
7pm was the start time of the official Capelaw Uphill Race for those wanting a bit of competition. A nice short runnable climb to start off the series. 8 adults and 5 children were at the midge free Bonaly Woods car park for a 7.03pm start.
Alex McVey led from the off, and never looked back to reach the summit ironwork first with a waiting crowd of some early starters and photographer Digby. Steven Fallon a close second, followed by yours truly coughing up a lung.
Superb views across to the Trossachs, Ochils and Fife. A nice gentle warm down jog back to the start.
Tonight is race number two, Cairn-nethy Hill Race. Meet from 6.30pm for a 7pm start. This is the longest race of the series at 5.9miles, and given the nights are drawing in, bring a headtorch, and a copy of the map too.
Remember to self time your result and send to Bob at the end of the week.
