Last night’s AltC5 Trail Race saw 21 seniors take part, with Willie and Helen doing their own thing (and taking a longer route) and 19 starting together at 7pm upon the strangled blast of a Vuvuzela from yours truly which would have embarrassed a baby Zulu. 2 Juniors (the omnipresent Nash siblings) took part on the shorter route from Torduff Reservoir, with Andrew edging out his baby sister. At the finish, various route nuances and permutations seemed to be getting discussed but I closed my ears to this as all of the times seemed legit. Andrew Gilmore was first home with Konrad breathing down his neck and Jasmin was first lady. My first attempt at making race numbers came unstuck as some of them failed to survive the sweaty conditions – back to the drawing board for next time. Some fast times last night on what has been a memorable week of racing so far.
