This was the second of the North of Tyne MRT events, again celebrating another significant milestone. I’d used it as a good excuse to meet up (drag out) a friend whose moved to the North East. There are two distances 15 & 20m and its up to you if you want to run or walk. We went for the longer one with a view to walking / trotting and generally having a blether on the hill. I used to stay in the Rothbury area for a couple of years and it was great to be back to my old haunts and see how things are. The Met Office had pleasantly got it wrong and we spent the day in sunshine with the rain only arriving in the last 10 mins. They also put on a fell race (and trying to get a shorter run going alongside it), starting slightly later; Alwinton 3 Tops which joined our route later and it gave added interest to encourage them as they came by. I thought, I saw a Carnethy in the early pace setters but I could have been wrong. Good day, good cause, options for all and well worth a trip down to this gem of an area whether it be for training, racing or just socialising.
