Congratulations to Andy Spenceley for his first win of 2019.
Andy has been involved in Carnethy since 1984 and he does a tough results job for SHR – For more on Andy and his predictions for 2012 see here – http://carnethy.com/ci_newsletter/int_andys.htm
Andy said “I was first back (physically, if not on paper) from a very small turnout (not sure why as although it wasn’t a particularly nice day, it was nowhere near as bad as it has been in the past).
It was slow conditions, being very windy and very slippy going due to all the rain. Gutted Haddie in particular had to be taken very carefully. One good thing, though was that due to the conditions you didn’t have to fight to get to the trig point. ”
Mark reports – “None of us had a phone with us to take a photo! Andy had made up the one minute start I had on him by the top of the gutted haddie and went off into the distance never to be seen again until the finish line…Conditions were slippy underfoot and there was a nasty southerly wind that was noticeably in your face when going up the crags and when heading from the summit to Nether.”
Peter has the fastest time and said that “Slidey conditions and uncooperative legs meant a frantic dash to get under 30 minutes.”
Welcome to Kai from Netherlands who is new to Edinburgh and doing a doctorate. He made a couple of mistakes – as we all do first time – and will be back next month to get closer to sub 30:-)
See you Monday 4th Nov.
Please contact me if you want a recce or just take part and send me a time.
