John Hammond won and Nicola Duncan finished 2nd female (12th overall) in the 53 mile Highland Fling trail race, which takes competitors through the stunning Loch Lomond and The Trossachs National Park.
13 Carnethys participated, 6 finishing in the top 16. The wet weather didn’t stop the PBs despite the slippery conditions through some of the technical sections.
Carnethy won the men’s team event by quite some margin, due to John coming 1st, Scott Craighead 4th and Will Stewart 10th.
Alex Coakley and Richard Laucht would have won the 3-legged race after practically running all 53 miles together, finishing 14th and 16th respectively.
The organisers and all the volunteers make this a special race on the calendar. The sports massage at the end means there’s a chance of walking the next day. Big thanks to all.
